Senior Actuarial Analyst, Reinsurance Pricing Poland

Wrocław, Poland

We are looking for a talented and motivated professional to join the International Reinsurance Pricing & Analytics team at AXA XL.  In this role you will provide support to the International Property team in all aspects of pricing covering a wide range of products and territories. You will work closely with underwriters and have exposure to executive management from the very start. There will also be opportunities to participate in cross-region and cross-product projects at a Reinsurance segment level.

You will be an Integral part of International Re Pricing & Analytics, working actively within a cross-functional team, particularly with underwriters in Le Mans and Zurich and other actuaries around the world.

The International Re region of AXA XL writes approximately $1.5bn of annual gross written premium and provides significant career development opportunity for the right candidate over the longer term. Our region encompasses reinsurance markets across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. The Pricing & Analytics team partners directly with underwriting and executive management as we look to develop and deliver our strategic objectives.

What you’ll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Work with actuaries and underwriters during renewals by providing pricing support focusing on Casualty, but with opportunities to get involved in other lines of business within reinsurance
  • Assist with work on the actuarial elements of the business/strategic planning process
  • Assist with the development of actuarial pricing methods and pricing parameters, as part of the Reinsurance Segment or with regional projects
  • Liaise with other members of the actuarial and underwriting team in the region and across the segment
  • Produce management information and other analyses to assist underwriters and the management team
  • Provide input into the quarterly reserving process and annual capital model parameterization where appropriate

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Insurance or Financial Services Industry
  • Ability to communicate confidently and effectively, including understanding complex problems and being able to explain them clearly to others
  • Aptitude in VBA, SQL, Python, and R (or a proven ability and desire to learn them)
  • Fluent English skills and aptitude in French or other European languages
  • High attention to detail, and hence rigorous and accurate work.
  • A proven eye for making things simpler, quicker, and more efficient where possible.
  • An openness to challenge (both ways), and the ability to help a group to reach a consensus.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Existing actuarial or combined maths/eco/coding qualifications
  • Some experience working as part of an actuarial/statistical function / team
  • Proactive approach to organisation with ability to plan and prioritise work
