As we develop an enterprise-wide data and digital strategy that moves us toward greater focus on the use of data and strengthen our digital, AI capabilities, we are seeking a Senior Specialist – Data and AI Platforms. In this role, you will plan and lead continuous development of the enterprise Data and AI platforms, achieving adoption in key user segments in AXA XL and efficient platform operations.

 

The platform is expected to enable scalable data transformation, BI and web app serving, insight generation, full data and ML engineering lifecycle including controlled deployment to production and ongoing monitoring and operations.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Support and contribute to the continuous improvement of user experience and operational efficiency of the enterprise data and AI platforms. Understand user needs, share best practices, and help understand and optimize costs.
  • Assist in mitigating barriers to entry and grow business impact through the adoption of the offering in key user segments such as data engineers, data scientists, actuaries, app developers. Create robust guardrails assisting users to use the platform in an optimal and sustainable fashion.
  • Conduct research into data and AI technologies and help formulate process and platform improvements. For example, collaborate with architecture and Platform Manager in creating designs and proposals for technology, operations, and maintenance of data and AI Platforms.
  • Dive deep and go hands-on to solve problems across diverse components of the platform: Azure data stack and Azure cloud technologies.
  • Contribute to the formulation of the product backlog, collaborate with Platform Manager, Global Technology, and IDA colleagues on prioritizing, designing, and implementing changes in line with user demand and/or strategic considerations.
  • Partner with Engineering Management, Global Technology, and users in establishing an economical, secure, and robust workflow for promoting, operating, and controlling risk of data applications on the platform estate.
  • Support projects such as POCs of new software or changes to the data stack and other key initiatives.
  • Be an advocate for users, prioritizing service for our business stakeholders above all else. Act as a user representative in discussions with functional counterparts such as Global Technology, Governance, Information Security.

What you’ll bring

 

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

 

  • Experienced professional with hands-on experience in technical design and operations of modern data technology stack in an organization with diverse user groups and complex needs. Experience with Databricks operations and administration is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in integration and automation in technologies such as data platforms, machine learning platforms, AI services, DevOps, and ML Ops tooling.
  • Keen focus on improving the product in a user-centric manner, with a willingness to understand in-depth user problems and peculiarities of workflow in diverse user segments. Ability to communicate effectively across the wider stakeholder landscape.
  • Ability to work in an agile development process, participate in sprint planning, formulate technical tickets with sufficient detail, and exercise control over the quality of their execution.
  • Experienced in collaborating with data engineers, data scientists, DevOps, and IaC engineers to continuously improve platform impact and operational efficiency.
  • Moderate experience as a Technical Product Owner / Platform / Infrastructure Engineer of a Data or Analytical platform in an enterprise setting.
  • Experience with administering R Studio stack (R Studio Connect, R Studio Server, Shiny) would be advantageous.
  • Experience with IaC such as Terraform development and deployment would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience in system administration, cloud engineering and administration, solution engineering, and/or architecture would be advantageous. Azure Cloud certifications would be a plus.

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $150,000 USD.
