Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for assessing and evaluating risks across all segments both property and engineering construction line of business, ensuring that underwriting decisions align with the company's risk appetite and profitability goals.

Responsible for assessing and evaluating risks across all segments both property and engineering construction line of business, ensuring that underwriting decisions align with the company's risk appetite and profitability goals.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and manage the team of underwriters providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to ensure high level of performance and professional development.
  2. Develop and implement underwriting strategies and guidelines in consultation with Technical Line Head, Head of Commercial Lines and Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO).
  3. Evaluate insurance applications and determine the acceptability of risks within assigned market segments.
  4. Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures tailored to specific segments.
  5. Ensure that team follows and adhere with the set underwriting operational procedures mandated by AXA
  6. Analyze data and trends to make informed underwriting decisions and identify opportunities for profitable growth.
  7. Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to support business initiatives and enhance customer relationships.
  8. Monitor and review existing policies to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  9. Provide training and mentorship to junior underwriters on best practices and segment-specific knowledge.
  10. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on underwriting performance and risk assessments for management.
  11. Stay updated on industry trends, emerging risks, and changes in regulations that may impact underwriting practices.
  12. Participate on risk inspection if needed.
  13. Conduct in-house seminar and trainings.
  14. Other function needed to attain the company and department goals and objectives

·       Nature – provide assistance in inquiries, accounts for approval and other business concerns.

-        RI Team

·       Nature - RI placement and other reinsurance concerns.

-        International Market (IMa) Regional Line Head

·       Nature – referral of account beyond local GUL

-        Local Risks

·       Nature – referral of account which falls Local GI Underwriting Subcommittee Guidelines

Educational Background:

Must be a College Graduate of any four-year course (engineering, mathematics related course is an advantage)

Professional Experience:

  • Must be a College Graduate of any four-year course (mathematics-related course is an advantage)
  • Must have at least five (10) years’ experience in underwriting
  • Deep understanding of Engineering, Construction Underwriting, Property Underwriting and General Insurance Risk Management.
  • Must have attended a General Insurance Seminar with Intermediate and Advanced Property and Engineering courses in an authorized training institution. Basic risk management technique and risk surveying is an advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial documents like Audited Financial Statement, Income Statement, Balance Sheet is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risk factors effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
