Role Overview

As a Mid-Level Backend Software Engineer in the Platform Data team (Hybrid, Bucharest, Romania), you'll build globally distributed, fault-tolerant, and highly scalable cloud-based systems using microservices architecture. This role is central to the Cloud Engineering Platform Data organization, laying the foundation for CrowdStrike's state-of-the-art security services.

You'll join the team developing the Global Query Engine ecosystem—a set of in-house components enabling internal and external partners to access and join data from multiple stores. Powered by Cassandra, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Go, this is your chance to scale systems handling 15+ petabytes of data and 1 trillion+ security events daily. No Go experience? Key Responsibilities

In this full-time position, you'll:

• Engineer rapid prototypes into large-scale core services for the Falcon platform.
• Leverage and build cloud-based services supporting our top-rated security intelligence.
• Ensure petabytes of critical business data remain safe, secure, and available.
• Brainstorm, define, and build collaboratively across multiple teams.
• Champion learning, newest technologies, and raise the team's technical IQ.
• Mentor and be mentored on backend and data storage technologies.
• Re-evaluate products for improved architecture, knowledge models, UX, performance, and stability.
• Operate as a self-starter, owning deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
• Contribute to and use open-source communities.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, you'll need:

• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience developing distributed systems.
• Very good understanding of web services/APIs, integrating disparate systems, multithreading, concurrency, parallel processing, distributed systems, and scalability challenges.
• Team player skills—collaboration is key.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, test-driven, collaborative, iterative environment.
• Skills to meet commitments, deliver high-quality, unit-tested, code-reviewed software.

Bonus points for query optimization, complex GraphQL APIs, ETL processes, cloud solutions, or graph databases—and scaling them 100x.
