About the OPPORTUNITY

We have a new opportunity for a Test & Commissioning Internal Communication Technician to join our Combat Systems & Integration line of business.

We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight.

You will be responsible for supporting the Combat Systems & Integration line of business by installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining internal communications systems. Based at the SA–Osborne Naval Shipyard and SA–Mawson Lakes, the role works under the direction of the CSI-IPT Test and Commissioning Lead to ensure systems are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with project requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting to work, testing, integrating, and commissioning internal communications systems and equipment.
  • Providing technical oversight and hands-on support for Test and Commissioning activities.
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate technical documentation, including test procedures and reports.
  • Delivering expert technical support to projects, including fault finding, defect resolution, and technical reporting.
  • Contributing technical input to system design activities, planning, and maintenance schedules.
  • Working autonomously on complex technical tasks within established procedures and safety requirements.
  • Acting as the technical focal point for discipline-specific activities and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Complying with company quality systems and working within agreed technical, cost, and schedule constraints while collaborating effectively with the Test and Commissioning team

About YOU

  • Certificate III in Electronics and Communication or other related field.
  • Strong technical expertise within the relevant domain and a solid understanding of engineering systems and equipment.
  • Adaptable and able to manage changing priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Confident team player who actively contributes to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership of the quality, safety, and timely delivery of your work.
  • Effective written and verbal communicator, able to engage professionally with engineers, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Analytical and improvement-focused, with the ability to identify issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Willing and available to travel interstate or offshore to support installation and maintenance activities.
  • Proficient in MS Office tools, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
