Job Description

The On Aircraft Production Planning Controller reports to the Depth
Senior Maintenance Manager and is
a skilled maintenance
technician undertaking a range reporting tasks prioritising and allocating
manpower. The
post holder requires an excellent understanding of the Typhoon aircraft systems
and reporting processes.

The post holder will be responsible
for accurate maintenance and updating of aircraft progress during scheduled
servicing, progressing estimates and forecasts of aircraft recovery times.
Briefing the Part M
organisation on the state of the Typhoon fleet and the recovery actions.
Core Activity:
  • Provide effective leadership and direct supervision
    to team members.

  • Ensuring that all maintenance activities are
    appropriately recorded and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant
    systems.

  • Perform Production Planning & Control
    tasking:
      –  Accurate
maintenance progression of systems, including estimates and forecasts of
aircraft recovery time.

      –  Engagement
through pre-input planning process for aircraft scheduled for on-aircraft
servicing tasks, including allocation of resources to ensure fleet plan is
maintained.

      –  Provide
visual management and reporting for current status and projected output date
for aircraft on track.

      –  Briefing
wider organisation on key issues and providing escalation as appropriate.
  • Undertake and complete tasked maintenance & diagnostic activities on
    an aircraft or components which may include, as appropriate, component
    removals, inspections, national instructions, repairs, modifications, fault
    rectifications, replacements and/or functional/system test.

  • Supervise the team to ensure that maintenance is undertaken to schedule
    and highlight any issues, escalate as required. Report on any impact to the
    wider programme.

  • Demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out
    responsibilities appropriate to the role and takes direction appropriately.

  • Ensure staff are sufficiently competent and approved for the maintenance
    tasks allocated to them.

  • Maintain personal & teams task authorisation for working on aircraft
    or components in accordance with regulatory requirements.

  • Responsible for meeting agreed delivery targets in the short to medium
    term through the supervision of others.

  • Undertake support tasks within the aircraft or component maintenance
    facility which are required to maintain compliance with the MOE.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to the team. Develop team members using
    formal assessment processes. Demonstrate sound and comprehensive communication
    and people management skills in order to exchange complicated information.

  • Undertake fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for ‘found faults’
    during maintenance.

  • Ability to scope and carry out independent and vital inspections.
  • Meet agreed delivery
    targets at a tactical level through the effective supervision of personnel.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Performance
    indicators
    – Ensure the effective management of
    regulatory activities by setting delivery targets, monitoring progress and
    developing performance improvement programmes. Prioritises activities
    within/across teams to maximise efficiency. Responsible for the assessment of
    escalated issues for any impact on continuing airworthiness and generating
    effective resolution, or sponsoring escalation to management, as appropriate

  • Procedure/standards
    Comply with the regulatory framework, its associated procedures and standards
    and any other company procedures and standards, as applicable. Identify and
    propose changes, as required

  • Completion
    of activities
    – Ensure all Part 145 activities are
    appropriately documented, and airworthiness records are maintained on relevant
    systems (IT / paper based). Ensure all Part 145 activities are performed by
    suitably qualified, experienced and authorised personnel. Ensure the
    integration of Part 145 activity within the business, including the engagement
    of key stakeholders at all stages of the process. Provide support and guidance
    to the team.

  • Safety
    Management System
    – Promote the application of Human
    Factors, Error Management, Risk Management and Safety Assurance within the Part
    145 team, together with the proactive analysis, mitigation and management of
    Hazards.
  • Management
    System Assurance
    – Ensure Part 145 team activities are
    compliant with the Regulatory Governance and Assurance framework. Ensure
    Process Confirmations and independent assurance audits are supported by Part
    145 personnel and integrated within/across teams. Manage the response to audit
    findings in a timely and appropriate manner and provide information into the
    relevant reviews. Generate and implement effective improvements within/across
    teams to overcome any non-compliance and monitor effectiveness

  • Statutory/Regulatory
    & Legislative requirements
    – Able to demonstrate an appropriate
    level of understanding and application of the relevant continuing airworthiness
    regulatory framework. Support the implementation of any regulatory driven
    changes into the maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with all other
    requirements, e.g. ITAR, EaPW, ISO

Qualifications/Functional
Knowledge:

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship
    (including a City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 or equivalent), ideally in
    Aeronautical Engineering and / or a recognised Engineering Degree from either
    aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, electronic, avionic or other studies
    relevant to the maintenance and continuing airworthiness of aircraft.

  • A minimum of 2 years working at Supervisor
    level

  • On the Job Training Instructional Techniques
  • 5 years practical experience applying aviation
    safety standards and operating practices.

  • 2 years relevant work experience as an
    operator within the aircraft maintenance component environment. Demonstrating
    breadth of experience, currency & recency via a Log Book capturing skills,
    knowledge and authorities for working on Aircraft or in bays.

  • 6
    months experience on type (in the last two years).

  • A comprehensive knowledge of Acceptable Means
    of Compliance. Management training Typhoon Avionic or Mechanical Trade ‘Q’
    Course or equivalent

  • Maintenix and ESS Competent
  • Typhoon Q Course
  • Human Factors- Standard Course Specification.
  • E&PW Awareness- Standard Course
    Specification.

  • ITAR Awareness- Standard Course Specification.
  • IT Literate
