The Senior Category Manager – IT Infrastructure services develops and maintains leading edge global sourcing strategy and appropriate supply base with clear spend governance for assigned IT related category(ies), including IT Infrastructure, hardware, software, network and telecom services. Success will largely develop on critical thinking, understanding the market and business needs and ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment.

The Senior Category Manager develops global strategies and handles supplier relationships that represent significant risk to multiple businesses. This role serves as a strategic advisor, partnering with IT, business, functional, and regional stakeholders to understand requirements and implement global sourcing strategies using a hub-and-spoke model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic supplier management, including risk, performance, relationship, value delivery, and supplier development.

  • Guide global category teams in developing, communicating, and approving sourcing strategies that reflect regional requirements and market conditions and coordinating handoff to regional teams for supplier selection and implementation.

  • Plan, negotiate, and contract with suppliers, ensuring agreements meet BD’s global needs—from small to large ($100M) service agreements.

  • Develop best in class multi-year roadmaps for savings, value creation, and innovation opportunities based on market intel and business needs

  • Monitor internal customer and supply market changes impacting sourcing strategy.

  • Lead supplier selection, RFX development, proposal evaluation, and stakeholder approval, ensuring effective communication of supply base.

  • Execute supplier relationship management for key suppliers and oversee global supplier activities.

  • Apply source-to-pay processes, including customer-centric support and preferred payment methods.

  • Maintain stakeholder relationships globally.

  • Develop and maintain risk mitigation plans and ensure supply base compliance with corporate procedures and legal requirements.

  • Drive global category team effectiveness mentor regional sourcing associates as needed

  • Drive budget favorability by proactively identifying budget gaps and engaging stakeholders through strategic communications and consensus, resulting in cost savings and value opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred

  • Minimum ten years of related work experience, including IT and BPO category strategy and execution
