Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a SeniorABMD/Avenger Program Manager (Level L) to join our Integrated Air & Missile Defense (IAMD) team in Huntsville, Alabama.

The ABMD/Avenger Program Manager is responsible to lead two programs of record consisting of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (ABMD) and Avenger programs. The ideal candidate has prior experience leading teams that are comprised of matrixed organizations in support of development, production and sustainment of defensive weapon systems. The ABMD Program consists of design, manufacturing, and delivery of Standard Missile (SM)-3 missile components. The Avenger Program consists of modernization, sustainment, and field support of the Avenger system. The ABMD/Avenger Program Manager is responsible for cost, schedule and technical performance of these programs. Performance of these responsibilities includes customer interface with peer aerospace prime contractors and U.S. government project offices.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage employees performing business management activities in the area of Program Management
  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implement policies and procedures and set operational goals
  • Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management of suppliers and lead process improvements
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Develop and execute business strategies that improve efficiency, affordability and overall profitability
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Develop new proposals for follow-on work and additional business capture
  • Establish Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) program goals and establish a PMBP improvement plan
  • Manage, develop and motivate employees
  • Manage various types of Government contracts that include Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF), Cost Plus Incentive Fee (CPIF), Firm Fixed Price (FFP) and other cost/fixed type variants that are exercised through Traditional DoD, Alternate, and Middle Tier acquisition strategies

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • More than 5 years of experience with project leadership leading cross-functional teams
  • More than 5 years of experience in project management including interfacing with suppliers, partnerships, and/or customers

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • More than 3 years of experience with Program Management on defense related programs
  • Experience with Missile Defense Agency and/or US Army Air Defense programs
  • Prior management experience with U.S. Government contracts

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Travel: Position may require travel up to 15% of the time.
