Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Welder, Tubes and Ducts, to join our Welding team in Algona and Auburn, Washington.

As a Welder specializing in ducts and reservoirs, you will be an integral part of our manufacturing team, responsible for the precise fabrication and assembly of critical components that contribute to our innovative aviation solutions. Your expertise in various welding techniques and your ability to work with diverse metals and alloys will ensure that our products meet the highest quality and performance standards. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineers and other skilled professionals to bring designs to life while continuously improving processes and techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

You will play a critical role in upholding our commitment to safety and quality standards and ensuring that all operations meet regulatory compliance and operational excellence. If you are detail-oriented, possess strong technical skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we invite you to apply and join our mission to deliver excellence in aviation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Execute machine welding techniques, including plasma arc, gas tungsten arc, electro slag, gas metal arc, and submerged arc welding. Make necessary adjustments during the welding process to accommodate variations in thickness, misalignment, gaps, equipment anomalies, and assembly fit-up.

  • Select appropriate electrodes, gas cups, weld current, arc voltage, travel speed, gas flow, wire size, and feed rate according to the weld schedule or provided specifications, ensuring accurate seam tracking as needed.

  • Utilize various types of welding equipment, selecting the proper tips, electrodes, voltage, amperage, pressure, and flux, while determining the most effective welding method for each task.

  • Plan the sequence of welding operations to maximize accessibility, ensuring that the final welds are performed last on complete assemblies for optimal efficiency.

  • Prepare for and follow up on welding tasks by cleaning, chipping, grinding, and wire brushing materials. Repair defects in welds and perform brazing and hard soldering as required.

  • Conduct flame hardening, annealing, bending, and forming of details and assemblies as necessary to meet project specifications.

  • Interpret and work from prints, sketches, specifications, and both verbal and written instructions to ensure accurate execution of tasks.

  • Demonstrate welding proficiency as required, showcasing skills and techniques to meet quality standards.

  • Maintain all necessary certifications, licenses, or permits required to perform welding assignments effectively.

  • Proactively request repairs and maintenance for welding equipment to ensure optimal operating conditions and minimize downtime.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.
