We are seeking a highly motivated Simulation Engineer (for Magnetic circuits) to join our Transmission Control Engineering team.

This role is responsible for developing and executing simulation strategies to support the design, validation, and optimization of electromagnetic components and subsystems, primarily solenoids for automatic transmissions and thermal management. The successful candidate will collaborate across engineering disciplines to analyze component behavior under realistic transmission, thermal, and vehicle operating conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead simulation and analysis of magnetic circuits within transmission solenoids and thermal control systems.
  • Develop simulation work packages aligned with Product Engineering (PE) methodologies.
  • Perform 2D and 3D magnetic simulations to propose and validate product designs using advanced simulation tools and standards.
  • Analyze and optimize the electromagnetic section of solenoids to improve system performance such as, but not limited to, force output, response time, and energy efficiency.
  • Conduct simulations in accordance with project specifications, cost targets, and timelines.
  • Support testing activities by interpreting product functionality, failure modes, and performance data.
  • Present simulation results and insights to internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Evaluate technical specifications to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Continuously improve simulation tools and methodologies to enhance design feasibility and efficiency.
  • Stay current with emerging magnetic simulation technologies and tools.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to safety standards and proactively identify unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Master’s degree in a specialized field such as Electromagnetics or Applied Physics is considered a plus.

Professional Experience:

  • 2–3 years of experience in the automotive industry, preferably in simulation or product development roles.
  • Proven experience (2–3 years) in developing simulation models, desirable in magnetic systems.
  • Familiarity with product testing and validation processes.
  • Hands-on experience with CAE tools for electromagnetic analysis is highly desirable.

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of electromagnetic principles and magnetic circuit design (2–3 years of experience).
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems; at least 1 year of relevant experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret and work with electrical schematics and magnetic circuit diagrams.

Software & Simulation Tools:

  • Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, JMAG, or similar is desired.
  • Experience with optimization tools like OptisLang is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of structural mechanics modeling (FEA).
  • Competent with programming languages and scripting (e.g., Python, VBA, Excel macros) is advantageous.

Languages:

  • Advanced English proficiency is strictly required.
  • German language skills are a plus.
