As Engineering Manager (BE) - Internationalisation (Remote across ANZ), you'll lead a cross-functional team of 6+ backend and infrastructure engineers, coaching them to deliver scalable features that make Canva truly localised. You'll drive the technical roadmap, champion AI automation in workflows, refine processes for sustainable delivery, and collaborate across Engineering, Product, and Design to build world-class translation services. Key Responsibilities

• Lead a cross-functional backend and infrastructure team building localisation features for a truly global Canva experience
• Coach and grow a team of 6+ skilled engineers, fostering a happy, healthy, high-performing culture
• Drive technical delivery and design the product and technical roadmap for internationalisation systems
• Refine team processes to ensure effective, sustainable delivery at scale
• Champion automation and AI integration into engineering workflows and localisation solutions
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to build scalable translation and localisation services
• Work with teams across search, templates, and marketplace to enable global reach
• Embed Canva's collaborative, innovative culture into daily engineering practices
• Measure and optimise team performance to support Canva's crazy big goals
• Contribute to making non-English design experiences as seamless as English ones

Required Qualifications

• Experience managing and coaching engineering teams of 6+ engineers with constructive feedback and growth support
• Proven track record leading technical delivery and driving impactful change as both a leader and individual contributor
• Strong familiarity with backend and infrastructure engineering, including collaboration across engineering specialities
• Deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and scalable software systems
• Experience designing product and technical roadmaps for complex systems
• Demonstrated ability to refine team processes for effective and sustainable delivery
• Full-time availability for a hybrid/remote role across ANZ
• Passion for building global, inclusive design experiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in internationalisation, localisation, or translation systems
• Curiosity and hands-on experience with AI/ML integration in developer workflows
• Background working with design-focused products or creative tools
• Experience scaling infrastructure for global audiences
• Familiarity with Canva's tech stack or similar high-scale platforms
• Prior leadership in cross-functional teams spanning product and engineering
