As Engineering Manager (FE) - Video Storyline (Remote ANZ), you'll lead a high-performing frontend team, collaborating closely with Staff Engineers, designers, product managers, and AI researchers to craft magical, empowering editing experiences that democratize professional video creation. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a high-performing frontend team focused on AI-powered video editing
• Deliver intuitive new editing surfaces that simplify complex creative tasks
• Build expressive tools for sequencing, timing, and audio/visual storytelling
• Collaborate with Staff Engineers, design, product, and AI researchers
• Define and own the frontend technical roadmap for Video Storyline
• Champion frontend excellence in performance, responsiveness, and usability
• Explore innovative interaction patterns for desktop video generation
• Support complex features like beat-syncing, intelligent timing, and creative composition
• Foster a collaborative, innovative team culture aligned with Canva's design-first principles
• Ship features quickly in a fast-paced R&D environment

Required Qualifications

• Strong frontend engineering background with expertise in TypeScript
• Experience leading and growing high-performing engineering teams
• Proven track record in building rich, interactive creative tools
• Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals
• Experience coaching and developing engineers
• Ability to define and own technical roadmaps
• Comfortable in fast-moving R&D environments
• Strong command of frontend performance, responsiveness, and usability principles
