About the Role

Join Canva's Engineering team as an Engineering Manager (Full Stack) - Ad Publish & Insights within Canva Grow, our newest product group born from the MagicBrief acquisition. You'll lead a high-impact team at the intersection of creativity, data, and advertising, empowering marketers to publish, manage, and optimise campaigns across major platforms like Google Ads and Meta. In this ANZ remote role based in Melbourne/Australia, you'll guide technical strategy for frontend/backend systems, drive new integrations, and build LLM-powered insights tools—all while championing Canva's design-first, collaborative culture. Key Responsibilities

• Lead a high-impact full stack engineering team building ad publish and insights features
• Guide technical strategy for frontend/backend systems including performance insights and integrations
• Drive development of new ad platform integrations and publishing flow improvements
• Build and scale a high-performing team through hiring, coaching, and mentorship
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and Ecosystem teams to align on strategy and delivery
• Champion code quality, system performance, observability, and operational excellence
• Lead initiatives for creative recommendation enhancements and LLM-powered tools
• Foster Canva's collaborative, design-first culture within your engineering team
• Set technical vision while maintaining hands-on contributions to critical projects
• Monitor team health, career growth, and delivery against business objectives
• Partner with stakeholders to prioritize features that empower marketers globally

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong full stack expertise
• 2+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience
• Proven track record leading cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments
• Deep experience with frontend (React/TypeScript) and backend (Node.js/Python) technologies
• Experience building scalable systems for advertising, marketing, or data insights platforms
• Strong understanding of performance optimization, observability, and operational excellence
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and grow high-performing engineering teams
• Experience with ad platforms (Google Ads, Meta, etc.) or publishing integrations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LLM-powered tools or AI-driven recommendation systems
• Background in startup environments with greenfield product development
• Familiarity with Canva's tech stack (TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL)
• Previous work in marketing technology or creative performance analytics
• Experience scaling engineering teams in growth-stage companies
