We're seeking a Finance Business Partner, People for a 14-month FTC (parental leave cover) to join our dynamic FP&A team in Melbourne, Australia (hybrid, with Sydney preference or remote within AU). In this role, you'll partner with our People Group – supporting global teams through People Operations, Canva University, Growth & Impact, and more – to drive financial excellence amid our explosive growth to 5,000+ Canvanauts worldwide. No two days are the same in Canva's collaborative FP&A environment. You'll engage People leaders to connect their strategies to our Crazy Big Goals, deliver insightful budgets and reforecasts with Canva-powered data stories, and tackle high-impact projects like ROI analyses and process optimizations. Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with People Group leaders to understand their strategic goals and align them with Canva's broader company objectives
  • Build trusted relationships with stakeholders, driving engagement and positioning FP&A as a strategic advisor
  • Develop and deliver budgets, quarterly reforecasts, and variance analysis with clear, compelling narratives
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support People initiatives like talent acquisition, learning programs, and organizational development
  • Create data stories using Canva and other tools to communicate complex financial information engagingly
  • Conduct return on investment assessments and business cases for People-led projects
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on initiatives to improve processes and drive efficiency
  • Contribute to FP&A projects that support Canva's Crazy Big Goals
  • Monitor key People metrics and provide proactive financial recommendations
  • Adapt communication styles to suit technical finance teams and non-technical People leaders

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis within a commercial environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with non-finance stakeholders
  • Proven ability to engage with business leaders to align financial insights with strategic goals
  • Track record of delivering accurate quarterly reforecasts and budget setting
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • 3+ years in FP&A or finance business partnering roles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with BI tools or Anaplan
  • Background in partnering with People/HR functions
  • Prior exposure to high-growth tech or SaaS companies
  • Advanced skills in data visualization and storytelling (bonus if using Canva!)
  • CPA/CA qualification or equivalent
