About the Role

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design at Canva! We're seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer - Cross Platform to help power our seamless experiences across web, iOS, and Android. Based remotely across ANZ (with hybrid options near our Sydney flagship campus), you'll join our innovative Engineering team, owning Canva's bespoke WebX framework that bridges frontend and mobile worlds using React, TypeScript, Swift, and more. In this role, you'll build reusable solutions enabling hundreds of feature teams to deliver magical, consistent user experiences to millions globally, all while fostering Canva's collaborative, design-first culture. Key Responsibilities

• Build efficient, reusable frontend solutions to enhance mobile platform support across iOS and Android
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver world-class adaptive mobile experiences
• Work across teams to create holistic solutions adopted by hundreds of feature teams
• Identify, document, and improve frontend engineering best practices and methodologies
• Drive cross-team collaboration on innovative ideas and platform improvements
• Mentor native mobile engineers in frontend development skills
• Maintain and evolve Canva's bespoke WebX framework for web/mobile integration
• Enable seamless frontend/mobile communication, navigation, and native feature utilization
• Conduct cross-platform testing to ensure consistent user experiences
• Contribute to technical documentation for reusable code and framework usage
• Leverage cutting-edge React features and 2-way streaming between web and mobile

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional frontend engineering experience
• Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and MobX
• Strong experience building reusable frontend components and frameworks
• Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams including mobile and business stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and empower other engineers
• Experience driving best practices in frontend development methodologies
• Comfortable tackling novel technical challenges without Stack Overflow solutions
• Passion for creating intuitive, world-class user experiences at scale

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with hybrid mobile applications
• Familiarity with Swift or native mobile development
• Previous work with in-house frontend frameworks
• Contributions to cross-platform testing and backward compatibility
• Background in design tools or creative software products
