Key Responsibilities

  • Develop shared frontend frameworks and component libraries used across all product teams
  • Build tools and infrastructure to streamline development workflows and enhance code quality
  • Identify and resolve frontend performance and scalability challenges
  • Collaborate with design system and product teams to ensure accessibility, consistency, and reliability
  • Lead technical design discussions and champion frontend best practices
  • Mentor junior engineers and grow Canva's frontend community of practice
  • Optimize frontend architecture to support billions of user interactions at global scale
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver consistent, fast, and reliable design experiences
  • Advocate for innovative solutions that empower designers and creators worldwide
  • Contribute to the Product Platform Supergroup's mission of shared product foundations

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience developing large-scale frontend applications
  • Expertise in JavaScript, React, and TypeScript
  • Proficiency with modern build tools such as Webpack or Vite
  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture and performance optimization
  • Experience building shared frameworks, design systems, or developer tooling
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices
  • Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and browser performance trade-offs
