We're looking for a Senior Frontend Software Engineer - Page Content & Delivery to join our Engineering team in Sydney, Australia (open across ANZ). In this hybrid, full-time role, you'll power the engine behind Canva's web pages, building frameworks that enable rapid creation of highly performant landing pages. As Canva scales globally, you'll collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver innovative solutions that blend cutting-edge technology with beautiful, user-centric design. You'll build reusable components, optimize for Core Web Vitals, implement SSR with NextJS on GraphQL, and introduce tooling that elevates developer experience. Expect to dive deep into performance bottlenecks, set up observability, and advocate for best practices in a collaborative environment where initiative and pragmatic excellence thrive. Our Pages Platform team empowers Canvanauts to create stunning pages effortlessly, and you'll play a key role in evolving this critical platform. With commercial experience in scalable FE systems using Typescript, React, MobX, and web fundamentals, you'll balance user needs with technical excellence. Key Responsibilities

  • Build components and frameworks that enable teams at Canva to rapidly and reliably build and manage highly performant web pages
  • Collaborate with leads, product managers, and engineers across multiple teams to gain insights and build the right solutions
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and advocate for frontend best practices across Canva
  • Articulate engineering needs and solutions to non-technical team members effectively
  • Introduce new tooling to improve the platform's developer experience and efficiency
  • Model initiative and ownership in achieving goals while demonstrating pragmatic excellence
  • Participate in design and code reviews to maintain high quality standards
  • Set up observability and monitoring capabilities to understand platform health
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks to ensure optimal user experiences
  • Contribute to the evolution of Canva's landing page rendering platform

Required Qualifications

  • Commercial experience in a software development environment, building, testing and monitoring scalable frontend systems
  • Experience developing rich web applications in Typescript, React & MobX
  • Firm understanding and experience in web front-end tooling such as Webpack and NodeJS
  • Experience in optimising web page performance and Core Web Vital scores
  • Firm understanding of server side rendering technologies and patterns and experience building pages in NextJS on a GraphQL backend
  • Firmly grounded computer science and web fundamentals, data structures, solution design, architecture and design patterns
  • Passion for testing and ensuring software quality that meets high standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with localization and optimization workflows
  • Experience contributing to product roadmaps with a product thinking mindset
