In our collaborative Engineering team based in Perth, Australia (with hybrid flexibility), you'll lead the design and development of performant UIs using React and TypeScript, drive product features from concept to launch, and scale our frontend architecture through reusable components and design systems. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of performant, delightful user interfaces using React and TypeScript
• Drive collaboration with PMs, designers, and engineers to scope and deliver impactful product features
• Evolve and scale Canva's frontend architecture through reusable component libraries and shared design systems
• Champion accessibility, performance, and engineering best practices across multiple product surfaces
• Write robust, well-tested code and proactively identify areas for technical improvement
• Guide design and code reviews while mentoring peers to raise the technical bar
• Craft rich, interactive experiences in the Canva Editor or surfaces like Docs, Presentations, and Websites
• Contribute to cutting-edge Magic Studio features powered by AI
• Launch fast-paced product experiments that drive real user impact
• Balance attention to detail with pragmatism to ship quality code at speed

Required Qualifications

• Highly experienced in building complex, user-facing applications using modern frontend technologies including React and TypeScript
• Strong JavaScript fundamentals and deep understanding of the web platform
• Proven track record of taking ownership of features end-to-end from architecture to delivery
• Experience leading design and development of performant, delightful user interfaces
• Demonstrated ability to champion accessibility, performance, and engineering best practices
• History of mentoring peers and raising the technical bar through code and design reviews
• Comfortable collaborating across disciplines with PMs, designers, and engineers
• Experience scaling frontend architecture through reusable component libraries and design systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on design tools or creative applications
• Familiarity with AI-powered features or Magic Studio-like experiences
• Background in rapid product experimentation and iteration
• Contributions to shared design systems or component libraries
• Experience with Canva Docs, Presentations, Websites, or similar rich editing surfaces
