As a Senior Software Engineer - Frontend (open to remote across ANZ), you'll craft rich, interactive experiences powering the Canva Editor used by millions daily, or shape end-to-end journeys across Canva Docs, Presentations, Websites, and cutting-edge Magic Studio AI features. In our collaborative Engineering team based in Adelaide, Australia (with hybrid flexibility), you'll lead the design and development of performant UIs using React and TypeScript, drive product features from concept to delivery, and evolve our frontend architecture through shared design systems that embody Canva's innovative, design-focused culture. Day-to-day, expect to collaborate closely with PMs, designers, and engineers to ship high-impact features at speed, champion accessibility and performance best practices, write robust tested code, and mentor peers to elevate our technical bar. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of performant, delightful user interfaces using React and TypeScript
• Drive collaboration with PMs, designers, and engineers to scope and deliver impactful product features
• Evolve and scale Canva’s frontend architecture through reusable component libraries and design systems
• Champion accessibility, performance, and best practices across Canva's product surfaces
• Write robust, well-tested code and proactively identify areas for technical improvement
• Guide design and code reviews while mentoring peers to raise the team’s technical bar
• Craft rich, interactive experiences in the Canva Editor or surfaces like Docs, Presentations, and Websites
• Contribute to cutting-edge Magic Studio features powered by AI
• Help launch fast-paced product experiments that drive real business impact
• Balance short-term delivery with long-term scalability and user experience goals

Required Qualifications

• Highly experienced in building complex, user-facing applications using modern frontend technologies (React and TypeScript)
• Strong JavaScript fundamentals and deep understanding of the web platform
• Proven experience taking ownership of features end-to-end—from architecture to delivery
• Track record of shipping quality code at speed while balancing detail and pragmatism
• Experience mentoring peers, conducting code/design reviews, and raising technical standards
• Familiarity with accessibility, performance optimization, and engineering best practices
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines including PMs, designers, and engineers
• Understanding of how technical work connects to product goals and user experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AI-powered features or Magic Studio-like technologies
• Contributions to reusable component libraries or design systems
• Work on high-scale applications serving millions of users
• Background in creative tools, design software, or content creation platforms
• Familiarity with Canva Docs, Presentations, Websites, or Editor surfaces
