Job Description

Overview

This role will be responsible for adjudicating Criminal Background Screens and performing individualized assessments on complex cases to make a determination on employment eligibility in accordance with procedures, applicable laws, and regulations. The ability to exercise superior judgment is a plus for this role, as is the ability to multi-task, prioritize and effectively problem solve.  The performer will be able to research and interpret appropriate legal statutes to aid in the decisioning process. This role will also handle escalated/sensitive inquiries while working in an agile environment. A successful candidate would offer and implement process improvements to drive efficiency, compliance adherence and enhance the candidate and associate experiences.  General Responsibilities:
  • Execution of applicable HR processes & programs

  • Adjudicate background screenings based on criminal, education, and work history

  • Access/update multiple databases/trackers

  • Support compliance changes, updates and initiatives

  • Contact candidates to resolve discrepancies as needed

  • Work with vendor to address minor candidate background issues

  • Ideal Candidate:
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to follow written policy, use critical thinking/problem solving skills to adjudicate complex cases

  • Possess cognitive flexibility, time management skills, and task initiation

  • Ability to navigate complex and sensitive subject matter in a poised and professional manner

  • Possess a high level of integrity

  • Experience in a role requiring decisioning applications using good judgement

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 1 year of experience adjudicating background investigation results or pre-employment screenings against established guidelines

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ year of process management or project management experience

  • 2+ years of risk management experience

  • 2+ years security, law enforcement, legal experience or paralegal experience with either an in-house legal department or a law firm

  • 1+ year of experience in Human Resources
