Job Description

Overview

Treasury is seeking a Senior Associate who is highly dependable, intellectually curious and can handle pressure to be a key member of Corporate Treasury's Collateral Management team. Collateral Management is responsible for posting/collecting collateral to support several types of programs and transactions such as Derivatives (Uncleared and Cleared), Capital Market transactions, Collateralization of certain funding facilities and specific client deposit programs.  The ideal candidate will possess a risk mindset and has experience in Capital Markets Operations,  Swap Dealer Requirements, Compliance or Audit.Responsibilities
  • Manage the calculation, collection and posting of variation and initial margin / independent amount for derivative transactions in the Collateral Management System

  • Ensures collateral posted to Capital One by counterparties is maintained in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and legal agreement terms, including appropriate segregation, if applicable

  • Monitors the internal initial margin threshold with each counterparty to ensure we establish swap documentation timely

  • Identifies margin discrepancies, manages valuation dispute process and related reporting.

  • Recommend and implement process changes to improve operational efficiency and decrease risks

  • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with key internal and external partners

  • Support all corporate collateral management programs and daily, monthly and quarterly reporting in accordance with internal controls and policies

  • Performs reconciliation of collateral custody accounts

  • Support Internal/External Audit requests

  • Support ad hoc project-related initiatives 

  • Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in Audit OR Accounting OR Finance OR Capital Markets OR Treasury OR a combination

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in Capital Markets or Capital Markets Compliance                    

  • Experience using G-Suite products 

  • Experience coding experience (Python, SQL, etc.)

  • Experience demonstrating an understanding of derivatives and mortgage-backed securities 

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • Experience creating presentations and explaining complex information to different audiences
