Overview

Capital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Senior Manager to join the Enterprise Risk Strategy & Analytics Team within the Enterprise Risk Management organization. The team’s mission is to harness data, analytics, and technology to drive real-time insights about the risks that matter for Capital One. The team’s scope includes executive reporting for Senior Management and the Board, business analytics, AI strategy, and managing the Company’s Risk Appetite framework.The Senior Risk Manager role will be responsible for building out key governance reporting, metrics and analysis to assess and communicate risk across the Company.  The role will be accountable for the Risk Appetite framework, including methodology design, process execution, and technology enablement. In addition, this role is expected to provide oversight and effective challenge across all risk categories (e.g. financial and non-financial risk).As part of the larger Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) organization, you will work with talented associates across first and second lines of defense to mature and execute the Risk Appetite program to ensure that our businesses effectively manage risk within the Company’s tolerance. This includes enabling our organizations to maintain a sustainable and holistic risk profile. You’ll also bring your unique perspective and experiences to help us be rigorous, curious and creative.  Senior Risk Managers have a natural passion for managing risk with excellent project, process and analytical skills.  With these skills, they serve as change agents to effectively challenge business leaders on our highest profile risk projects. Senior Risk Managers partner with executives and other risk leaders to identify potential risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded. Specific responsibilities of the Senior Risk Manager include and are not limited to:
  • Management and ownership of the enterprise Risk Appetite and KRI programs, including identification of KRIs, creation of reporting processes, input into executive risk reports, etc.; synthesize and elevate information to executive levels

  • Leverage data, metrics and analysis to create a comprehensive monitoring approach to proactively identify risks and trends

  • Cultivate data sources to feed metrics/reporting; clearly define intent/requirements for creation of an enterprise risk metric system of record

  • Perform and support detailed validation data analysis to include trending, problem identification, and development/completion of remediation plans

  • Consults on analysis and reporting outcomes to observe trends and provide insights on changes to the Company’s risk environments 

  • Collaborates effectively with stakeholders and leaders across multiple organizations to achieve objectives

  • Demonstrates problem-solving and analysis skills with attention to detail

  • Demonstrates strong communication, collaboration, problem solving and influencing skills across various levels of the organization

  • Balances multiple priorities to help drive business value and support team objectives, while managing tasks and activities related to risk management initiatives in a well-managed capacity

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 5 years of risk management experience within the financial services industry

  • At least 3 years of experience risk reporting, including creation and management of key risk indicators, key performance metrics, monthly business reviews, trend analysis

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Risk Management, Strategy, or Business Analytics experience leading cross functional programs

  • 2+ years of methodology or risk management framework experience

  • 2+ years of data and metric governance experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Risk management certifications
