Job Description

Overview

Capital Solutions is a newly formed team within the Capital Markets division of Capital One’s Commercial Bank. Capital One Commercial Bank, a top 10 U.S. commercial bank, offers a comprehensive range of investment banking services, including Equity Capital Markets, Debt Capital Markets, Loan Syndications, Structured Products, Mergers and Acquisitions, Derivatives, and Equity Sales, Research, and Trading.
The Capital Solutions team provides specialized capital-raising and capital-markets advisory services to private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies and at times corporate clients. Our mandate spans the full suite of private-market solutions, including:
  • Advisory and execution for co-investment opportunities, covering common equity, preferred equity, and junior debt financing structures.

  • Placement of preferred and common equity at both the holding-company and operating-company levels.

  • Highly tailored capital-raising strategies, leveraging deep investor relationships and bespoke structuring expertise to deliver optimal financing outcomes.

  • The Capital Solutions team is seeking a seasoned distribution professional to join our New York office. This role is focused on private-markets capital raising across the capital structure, including the placement of equity, preferred equity, and other forms of junior capital. The successful candidate will engage directly with a broad universe of institutional investors—family offices, endowments and foundations, sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, insurance companies, and other alternative-asset allocators.
In addition to capital placement, the team is opportunistically engaged as an advisor on both public and private transactions, providing bespoke capital-markets solutions to financial sponsors and corporate clients. The Capital Solutions platform benefits from deep, longstanding relationships across the firm’s private-equity sponsor coverage, corporate advisory, and M&A practices, enabling early visibility into capital-raise opportunities and differentiated origination capabilities.Key Responsibilities:
  • Build, cultivate and deepen relationships with alternative-asset institutional investors (LPs, family offices, insurance companies, foundations/ endowments) in North America, and globally who focus on direct and co-investments.

  • Originate, pitch and distribute private-equity investment opportunities ( preferred/structured equity, direct co-investments, and equity secondaries) to the investor market.

  • Source and screen new deal-flow from the firm’s client base and the broader private-capital market; collaborate with origination, sponsor coverage, and broader M&A teams on deal sourcing.

  • Lead the go-to-market execution of mandates: develop investor lists, prepare marketing materials, run roadshows, manage investor diligence/closing, negotiate term sheets and track commitments through to closing.

  • Partner closely with internal teams (sponsor coverage, investment banking, capital markets, legal, compliance, and financing) to support full deal cycle execution and post-closing monitoring.

  • Drive revenue growth by identifying new capital-raising and liquidity-solution opportunities aligned with the firm’s values and strategic platform.

  • Deliver excellent investor servicing and relationship management: anticipate investor needs, respond to inquiries, coordinate diligence, support reporting and follow-on opportunities.

  • Willingness to travel domestically (and occasionally internationally) to meet with clients, attend investor conferences and manage roadshows.

  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience

  • At least 4 years of sales experience covering North American private equity institutional investors (for example: family offices, endowments & foundations, insurance companies, institutional asset managers)

  • At least 2 years of experience in selling alternative products such as private equity, real estate, venture capital, infrastructure and private credit

  • At least 2 years of experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools and investor coverage workflows

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years institutional investor coverage or sales experience across North America or global LP markets.

  • 4+ years experience placing or distributing private capital products including direct investments, fund interests, secondaries, co-investments, or preferred equity

  • 3+ years experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools in investor-relations or distribution capacity.

  • At least 1 year experience performing financial modelling, underwriting alternative-asset investments, or performing investor diligences in private markets.

  • Advanced knowledge of private-capital markets: co-investments, GP-led secondaries, continuation vehicles, tender offers, preferred-equity solutions, structured-liquidity solutions.

  • FINRA SIE, 7, 79, and 63 licenses

  • Familiarity with alternative-asset valuation, investor diligence processes, and placement/distribution mechanics in private markets.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding investor-commitment targets.

  • Highly motivated, sales-oriented, with strong deal-execution focus and ability to close investor commitments.

  • Excellent interpersonal and client-relationship skills; strong verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, entrepreneurial advisory-oriented environment; comfortable managing multiple investors and deals concurrently.
