Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.
Job Purpose:
This Battery Controls Engineering Specialist role is within the growing battery component and system team in Electrification and Energy Solutions (E+ES). The selected candidate will be responsible for developing the battery controls system architecture, MIL/HIL simulations and on-machine integration and de-bug for a wide range of Caterpillar products. The selected candidate will also function as a controls team leader to ensure design activities and priorities are aligned to deliver on the team’s commitments as a whole.

Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Computer Science
Technical Excellence: Experience in battery systems, battery management systems hardware, or drivetrain systems for a range of electrified architectures is desired. Industry experience developing controls software, performance or system validation related to control algorithms for complex systems
Level Extensive Experience:
• Expertise in software validation methodologies i.e. HIL, SIL, lab, machine/vehicle
• Industry experience with HIL testing in environments like OPAL-RT, dSpace, NI TestStand test simulator
• MATLAB/Simulink (or similar) with embedded code exposure
• Knowledge of Direct-to-Flash methodology for creating experimental flash files
• Hands on experience with CAN Communication and use of CANape
• Knowledge and experience with Lithium-Ion batteries and/or BMS control strategies such as State of Health (SOH), State of Charge (SOC), etc. desired
Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.

• Carries out process evaluation, diagnosis, and optimization.
• Demonstrates a thorough understanding of a major process flow, its components and issues.

• Possesses knowledge of tools and techniques for designing and implementing new processes.

• Designs techniques for measuring the cost and impact of errors.

• Supports and communicates the organization's quality management process.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
