Job Purpose:
This position will work in Cat Technology China Engine & Power System team as engine control system engineer.

As a engine control system engineer, you will perform engineering assignments while building a detailed knowledge of the Electrical and Electronic Systems on Caterpillar’s engine products and the technologies that they enable leading the lab-based software and sub system validation effort.

Job Duties:
• Engine control system:
1. Engine control system understanding
2. Performing spec reviews with system engineers to determine product requirements
3. Understand engine electrical system & subsystem concepts
4. Working with Electronic system design engineers to define testing priorities
5. Work closely with program lead to define customer requirement, participate in concept design, design review, engine and machine validation, field test during product development
6. Trouble shooting and technical support for customers

• HIL (Hardware in loop) validation
1. Test bench setup, debug and maintenance, perform test base on requirement,
2. Summarize and analyze test result
3. Development of automated test scripts in the dSPACE environment
4. Regression test for engine SW
5. Trouble shooting of software issues identified
6. As processes and tools mature, this engineer will help to migrate some testing to software in the Loop platforms


Background/Experience:

• Bachelor degree or above in Internal Combustion Engine or Vehicle Engineering or equivalent. engineering
• >2 years technical experience on SW development and validation
• Learning quickly, willing to learn new technology
• Knowledge of more than one engineering function, technology, component, system, product, or process is required.
• Diligent, proactive, self-motived and open-minded
• Excellent in English (oral & written)
• Strong initiative, communication, interpersonal, teamwork skills.


Desired qualifications:

• Engine or related technical degree and > 2 years of previous experience
• Good knowledge of internal combustion engine structure, engine performance, engine test, and test equipment.
• Familiar with Matlab Simulink and have skill to build model
• Software Development Experience utilizing C, C++, or other coding language
• Experience with Python scripting
• Experience with dSPACE test equipment
• Experience with SIL
