Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing and Automation Engineer at the North Little Rock facility in Arkansas. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems and new manufacturing processes. This position requires experience in automation technologies (especially related to welding) and manufacturing engineering.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Creating and maintaining work instructions, tool lists, inspection guides, Control Plans, PFMEAs and SFMEAs for automation and other manufacturing processes.
• Support new product introductions and continuous improvement efforts around people, quality, velocity, and cost for large fabrications.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives participating in Lean Manufacturing projects and 5S improvements.
• Engages in creative problem-solving to address operational issues, including ergonomics and safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, and quality concerns related to automation and other manufacturing processes.
• Works with internal and external suppliers to develop and manage projects, ensuring efficient and cost-effective systems and processes to produce quality products.
• Provide manufacturing technical support in process controls for automation and other manufacturing process for large fabrications.
• Monitor and improve equipment reliability by identifying and addressing problem areas, performing root cause analysis, and being the technical expert for the value stream.
• Develop and optimize robot welding programs using ABB, Fanuc and CLOOS controls.
• Ensures compliance with all manufacturing standards, procedures, and safety guidelines, including both Caterpillar and OSHA compliant procedures.

WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
• Degree requirement: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or closely related discipline OR equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence of significant engineering and/or operational experience related to automation and manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with equipment setup, diagnostics, and optimization.
• Manufacturing Equipment: Technical expertise in automation technologies: Experience in deploying automation solutions like Robots/Cobots, Vision Systems, and others. Some experience in PLC and other programming languages.
• Lean Manufacturing: Demonstrated ability to apply lean manufacturing tools and methodologies in a production environment.
• Manufacturing Safety: Expertise in manufacturing safety related to automation and other manufacturing processes for large fabrications, including performing inspections.
• Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills, with experience in evaluating options, predicting impact, and advising others.

TOP CANDIDATES MAY ALSO HAVE:
• Extensive Automation system experience, including PLCs and robots used in multi-pass welding.
• Knowledge of welding processes use for large fabrications (automated and manual).
• Prior Project Management experience.
• Well-rounded understanding of both 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing concepts.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• This position requires the selected candidate to work on-site five days a week in the North Little Rock, AR facility.

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00
