As a Closures CAE Technical Specialist in Dearborn, MI, you will play a pivotal role in Ford's engineering excellence. Specializing in computer-aided engineering (CAE) for vehicle closures—such as doors, hoods, liftgates, and tailgates—you'll use advanced simulation tools to ensure superior performance, safety, and durability. This full-time position offers the chance to work on cutting-edge projects in autonomy, electrification, and smart mobility technologies, collaborating with world-class engineers to bring innovative ideas to life.
Your day-to-day impact will include:
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred. You need at least 5 years of hands-on CAE experience in the automotive sector, with a focus on body structures or closures.
Proficiency in CAE software suites like HyperMesh, ANSA, Abaqus, or OptiStruct is essential. Strong understanding of automotive materials (steel, aluminum, composites) and manufacturing processes (stamping, welding, adhesives) is key. Experience with scripting (Python, Tcl) for automation and high-performance computing (HPC) is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Effective communication skills to convey complex technical data to non-experts.
