The Cloud Engineering Manager role on the BootStack team offers a unique opportunity for technologists passionate about Linux and cloud technologies to advance their career at Canonical. BootStack designs, builds, and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure, spanning Kubernetes, OpenStack, and beyond. In this globally remote position, you will manage engineers handling day-to-day managed services for customer environments. This includes customer service management, operations, and continuous product improvements. Success demands close collaboration with customers, product engineering, and operations teams in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment.
Lead a growing engineering team to enhance the quality and velocity of development and operations. Identify key team health indicators and implement disciplined processes to drive efficiency.

To thrive in this role, candidates need a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a technology field and a proven track record in software delivery using languages like Python, Go, C, C++, or Java, or managing operations teams. Essential experience includes OpenStack, Linux system administration (Ubuntu/Debian preferred), agile methodologies, and distributed team management. Strong commitment to testing, maintainable code, communication skills, and aptitude for complex distributed systems and cloud topologies are required. Expect up to 20% travel for team events, company sprints, and customer meetings.
