Join MongoDB as a Cloud Operations Engineer in Dublin, Ireland, and become part of the team powering the world's fastest-growing multi-cloud database-as-a-service. MongoDB Atlas serves startups to Fortune 500 enterprises, and our Cloud Operations team ensures 24/7/365 reliability. This role offers hands-on experience with MongoDB Atlas, NoSQL databases, and modern cloud infrastructure while working from our Dublin office under a hybrid model.

The worldwide database management systems market is exploding—projected to grow from $82 billion in 2023 to $137 billion by 2027 (IDC). You'll monitor systems, troubleshoot production databases, automate workflows, and collaborate globally to maintain our uptime guarantees.

Start with Monday-Friday in-office ramp-up (3-6 months), then transition to a permanent Tuesday-Saturday schedule (9am-6pm) with 3 office days weekly. Saturdays are fully remote. Occasional volunteer coverage for holidays ensures equitable 24/7 support.

Key Responsibilities at MongoDB

  • Successfully coordinate and collaborate with a global team of Cloud Operations Engineers ensuring MongoDB Atlas uptime guarantees.
  • Help scale worldwide operations through strategic implementation of new processes and monitoring tools.
  • Assist in scoping, designing, and deploying systems that reduce Mean Time to Resolve (MTTR) for incidents.
  • Monitor and detect emerging customer-facing incidents; drive proactive resolutions.
  • Automate routine monitoring and troubleshooting tasks to boost efficiency.
  • Diagnose live incidents, differentiate platform vs. usage issues, and execute resolution steps.
  • Perform root cause analysis post-incident to identify process breakdowns and prevention measures.
  • Contribute to documentation of corner-case scenarios, troubleshooting workflows, and SOPs.
  • Work with product management, cloud engineering, and support to enhance Atlas infrastructure.
  • Inform executive leadership of major outages and manage escalations effectively.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 2+ years as on-call DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Operations Engineer.
  • Expertise in Linux system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with monitoring, performance data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of database operations and concepts, especially NoSQL like MongoDB.
  • Expertise in networking: DNS, TCP/IP, load balancers, firewalls.
  • Familiarity with AWS and other cloud platforms (GCP, Azure).
  • Critical thinking for detecting, resolving, or escalating complex issues.
  • Comfortable in 24/7 global operations with on-call rotation.
