Role Overview

As a Cockpit and Trim Design & Release Engineer in Dearborn, MI, you will play a pivotal role in designing and releasing interior cockpit and trim components for Ford's next-generation vehicles. Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) to mitigate risks and optimize component performance.
  • Managing supplier relationships, from concept to production, ensuring compliance with APQP and PPAP processes.
  • Performing tolerance stack-ups, GD&T applications, and feasibility studies for manufacturability.
  • Supporting vehicle prototyping, lab testing, and on-vehicle validation to achieve launch readiness.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this role, you need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in automotive interior design, particularly cockpit and trim systems.
  • Strong proficiency in CATIA V5/V6, Teamcenter, or equivalent CAD/PLM software.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive standards including AIAG manuals, ISO/TS 16949, and dimensional management.
