Job Description

About the role

As a API Test Automation Engineer, you will make an impact by designing and implementing advanced automation strategies for API and functional testing within transportation and logistics systems. You will be a key member of the Quality Engineering team, collaborating with developers, product owners, and business stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery across complex workflows.

In this role, you will

Lead API testing and automation using ReadyAPI and related tools.

Design and maintain automation frameworks leveraging SmartBear tools such as VirtServer and TestComplete.

Validate messaging queues like RabbitMQ or Kafka.

Perform cloud migration testing across GCP, OpenShift, or Azure environments.

Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning.

Provision test data using advanced SQL Server queries and stored procedures.

Create test strategies, plans, and risk assessments for complex projects.

Mentor junior testers and drive best practices in automation and QA.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 3 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Parsippany, NJ. What you need to have to be considered

7+ years of experience in software testing across multiple domains and technologies.

2+ years of expertise in API testing and automation using ReadyAPI.

Proficiency in SmartBear product suite including VirtServer and TestComplete.

Domain knowledge in transportation and logistics systems.

Experience with messaging queues like RabbitMQ or Kafka.

Cloud migration testing experience in GCP, OpenShift, or Azure.

Strong SQL skills for data-driven testing and test data provisioning.

Excellent communication and leadership skills for team coordination and stakeholder management.

This will help you stand out

Test automation development using Power Automate, Java, and Groovy scripting.

Performance testing using JMeter or LoadRunner.

Security testing awareness and understanding of OWASP principles.

Experience with mobile and cross-browser testing using Appium, BrowserStack, or Sauce Labs.

Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps pipelines.

Ability to track KPIs and present actionable quality dashboards.

Experience mentoring teams and implementing best practices.

Salary and Other Compensation

Applications will be accepted until December 15th, 2025.
The annual salary for this position is between $53,477 to $92,500, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
