Job Description

Job Title- Infrastructure Engineer

Job Location- Hybrid (3 days in office)- Hartford, USA

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Infrastructure Engineer with deep expertise in DevOps practices, container image build patterns, and CloudBees Jenkins. This mid-level role is ideal for professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about building scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure solutions.

In this role, you will

  • Design, Implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using CloudBees Jenkins, Docker, Podman and Buildx.

  • Develop and optimize container image build patterns for diverse technology stacks (Java, Node.js, Python, .NET, etc.).

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of build and deployment workflows.

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve build failures, performance bottlenecks, and deployment issues.

  • Maintain and enhance build environments to support evolving application architectures.

  • Ensure compliance with security and governance standards in containerized environments.

  • Document build processes, patterns, and best practices for internal knowledge sharing.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.


What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)

  • Expert level experience with CloudBees Jenkins and container image build tools such as Docker, Podman, and BuildX.

  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.

  • Proven experience designing and implementing container image build patterns across multiple technologies.

  • Hands-on experience with Linux-based systems, shell scripting, and version control (Git).

  • Familiarity with container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Amazon EKS) is a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Preferred skills: what will help you stand out

  • Certifications in Jenkins, Docker or AWS.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Exposure to security scanning tools for container images (e.g., Trivy, Clair, Aqua).

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $91,000 to $105,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
