Job Description

Cognizant Technology Solutions is looking for a Lead Data Engineer: DYNAMO DB. Join our dynamic team where you will leverage your extensive experience in AWS technologies to design and implement robust cloud solutions and will play a crucial role in optimizing our cloud infrastructure ensuring scalability, reliability and security. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and deliver impactful solutions that align with our company’s goals.

Role: Lead Data Engineer: Extensive experience in Dynamo DB

Location: This is a completely onsite role.

Candidates will need to work from Client’s Palm Beach Gardens, FL office all 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

Lead Data Engineer to drive the architecture and development. With over 10 years of experience in modern data engineering and deep expertise in AWS, DynamoDB, ETL development using AWS Glue, and event-driven distributed systems.

Required Skills & Qualifications

· 10+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or large-scale distributed system development.

· Deep expertise with AWS services, specifically: o DynamoDB (Streams, Global Tables, query patterns, performance engineering) o AWS Glue (Jobs, Crawlers, Workflows, Catalog, schema evolution) o S3, Lambda, Kinesis, Step Functions, CloudWatch, IAM

· Strong understanding of Unified Data Architecture (operational + analytical layers) in a large enterprise. · Proven experience designing and operating real-time, event-driven pipelines at scale.

· Advanced proficiency in Python or Scala, with strong SQL skills.

· Experience with IaC (Terraform or CloudFormation) and automated CI/CD pipelines.

· Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

· Ability to deliver reliable solutions in a mission-critical, regulated utility environment.

Key Responsibilities

Data Platform Engineering

· Design scalable and cost-optimized DynamoDB data models, indexes, and partitioning structures tailored for grid operations, metering, IoT telemetry, asset performance, and customer data applications.

· Develop strategy for schema evolution in NoSQL environments, ensuring smooth versioning and compatibility across diverse ingestion and consumption patterns.

· Lead enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS Glue, supporting ingestion from field devices, SCADA systems, customer platforms, energy markets, and internal operational systems. Data Pipeline & Ingestion Systems

· Build and optimize event-driven ingestion systems supporting near-real-time analytics for grid monitoring, asset health, and renewable generation forecasting.

· Implement DynamoDB Streams–based real-time pipelines to deliver low-latency operational insights to downstream applications and analytics consumers.

· Drive ingestion frameworks that scale to millions of events per second from sensors, meters, smart grid components, and distributed energy resources (DERs).

· Engineer high-throughput, fault-tolerant pipelines using Lambda, Kinesis, S3, and Step Functions with strong observability and automated recovery.

Operational Excellence

· Implement monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards using CloudWatch, DynamoDB metrics, and custom telemetry.

· Optimize DynamoDB capacity, access patterns, TTL policies, security, and cost management across high-volume workloads.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for the position depends on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
