Job Description

Senior Linux Administrator

Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid)

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Technology Specialist with 6to 9 years of expertise in Linux Administration, specifically RHEL SLES and OEL.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Ubuntu etc.) across physical and virtual servers in on-premises data centres and public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and network connectivity; proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure high availability and reliability.

Implement and manage system security measures, including user access controls, firewalls, patch management, and vulnerability assessments.

Automate routine system administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

Perform Linux server patching, regular system backups, recovery operations, and disaster recovery planning and testing.

Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed.

Maintain and update system documentation, procedures, and configuration records.

Work collaboratively with application, development, and network teams to support project deployments and infrastructure changes.

Monitor and manage cloud-based resources, including virtual machines, storage, security groups, and networking components.

Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to Linux and cloud computing.

Requirement

Possess a strong background in Linux Administration with expertise in RHEL SLES and OEL.

Demonstrate proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash Python or Perl.

Have experience in system monitoring tools and performance tuning.

Show a solid understanding of network protocols and security practices.

Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Display effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Salary and Other Compensation:

Applications will be accepted until 12/10/2025

The annual salary for this position is between $49,001 – $92,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
