Job Description
Responsibilities
- For the first 6 months, you will act as the tech lead, focusing on technical projects and directly contributing to code. Following this period, you will transition to managing direct reports.
- Spend at least 25% of your time being a strong individual contributor, driving the engineering quality and velocity of the team by being an exemplary practitioner
- Build high-performance services using Golang and gRPC, creating seamless integrations that elevate Coinbase's customer experience
- Be a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aiding in diligent architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code and engineering processes. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
- Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders to define strategic product roadmaps and make direct impacts on Coinbase’s international expansion
- Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise
- Mentor and coach team members on system design techniques and coding standards
- Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering
- You’ve experienced architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
- You’re passionate about building an open financial system that brings the world together
Preferred Qualifications
- You have gone through a rapid growth in your company (from 10 to 100s of engineers)
- You have experience with Blockchain technology (such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Base etc..)
- You have experience decomposing a large monolith into microservices
- You’ve worked with Golang, Protobuf, Docker, MongoDB, Postgres, AWS
- You’ve built financial, high reliability or security systems
- Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
