Organization & Team Overview

Our Engineering & Construction organization is responsible for building and expanding our network infrastructure to deliver our product and services to residential and commercial customers. Our team is comprised of professionals from project managers, coordinators, engineers, and managers, led by our Sr. Director and VP.  In total we have over 130 employees that work in unison as a team.

Role Description

As an NPM Intern on the Construction & Engineering team, you will work alongside a team responsible for building and expanding our network infrastructure to deliver our product and services to residential and commercial customers. As part of this team, you’ll help bring innovative products to life that transform the customer’s experience. You’ll also work closely with cross-functional teams, including our finance, Business Development, Technical Operations, Government Affairs, PMO, city/county municipalities, and our valued business partners to ensure successful project execution and seamless service delivery.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures the execution of overhead/underground construction duties such as placing hardline cables, frame and strand poles, transfer facilities between poles, place cable in joint trench, and safe operation of construction vehicles and cable trailers. 
  • Investigates and monitors accurate record keeping with regards to project start, milestone dates, production logs, material costs, and labor expenditures.
  • Instructs work site safety standards; conducts work site visits to ensure compliance with safety standards and participates in regular safety meetings with the crew. 
  • Ensuring that resources (i.e. vehicles, equipment, and inventory) are maintained in proper working order.
  • Supports Network Project Managers and leadership team with coordination of projects.
  • Generates logs and reports on construction, projects, materials, and expenditures.
  • Reviews, resolves, follows-up customer requests and complaints.
  • Monitors performance of construction crew to established goals and objectives.
  • Perform field ride-out/walk-out of project sites for the purpose of surveying, gathering and recording details, finding solutions, monitoring progress, performing post-construction review.
  • Coordinates all phases of construction projects including pre-construction meetings, site surveys, permit and license applications, make-ready, design and documentation, material procurement, contract labor requirements, and plant activation.
  • Oversee the activity of subcontractors. Meets and interacts with Government/Town officials and representatives from Utilities, Contractors, outside agencies, consultants and internal business partners.
  • Government Relations and Design Center functions. Develops cost estimates for a project, monitors job costs, evaluates change orders and controls the cost of work in progress to budget.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 1 through August 14, 2026
  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

  • Coordinates all phases of construction projects including pre-construction meetings, site surveys, permit and license applications, make-ready, design and documentation, material procurement, contract labor requirements, and plant activation
  • Oversee the activity of subcontractors. Meets and interacts with Government/Town officials and representatives from Utilities, Contractors, outside agencies, consultants and internal business partners
  • Government Relations and Design Center functions. Develops cost estimates for a project, monitors job costs, evaluates change orders and controls the cost of work in progress to budget
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university
  • Rising Junior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2027- Spring 2028)
  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2026 semester before graduating)
  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 1 through August 14, 2026
  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the execution of overhead/underground construction duties such as placing hardline cables, frame and strand poles, transfer facilities between poles, place cable in joint trench, and safe operation of construction vehicles and cable trailers
  • Investigates and monitors accurate record keeping with regards to project start, milestone dates, production logs, material costs, and labor expenditures
  • Instructs work site safety standards; conducts work site visits to ensure compliance with safety standards and participates in regular safety meetings with the crew
  • Ensuring that resources (i.e. vehicles, equipment, and inventory) are maintained in proper working order
  • Supports Network Project Managers and leadership team with coordination of projects
  • Generates logs and reports on construction, projects, materials, and expenditures
  • Reviews, resolves, follows-up customer requests and complaints
  • Monitors performance of construction crew to established goals and objectives
  • Perform field ride-out/walk-out of project sites for the purpose of surveying, gathering and recording details, finding solutions, monitoring progress, performing post-construction review
