Job Description

The Technology + Product organization works at the intersection of media and technology and our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products and next-generation technologies that transform the customer experience.

About the Role:

We are seeking a senior engineer who will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in video encoding/decoding, streaming protocols, and video processing technologies. This role involves designing and implementing solutions to verify AV quality by detecting anomalies such as pixelation, buffering, blurring, and other impairments in both live streaming and post-processing workflows. The engineer will also build systems that analyze device logs and vital stats (CPU, memory, network) to provide a comprehensive AV quality indicator.

What You’ll Do:

  • Act as the SME for video streaming technologies, encoding/decoding standards, and related protocols.
  • Design and maintain AV quality verification systems for live and on-demand video streams.
  • Maintain and improve algorithms to detect anomalies like pixelation, buffering, blurring, and other visual/audio impairments.
  • Build solutions that correlate video quality metrics with device health indicators (CPU, memory, network stats).
  • Integrate machine learning models for automated anomaly detection and predictive analytics.
  • Create dashboards and reporting tools for end-to-end AV quality monitoring.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to AV quality and system health.

Skills & Experience We’re Looking For:

  • Develop, optimize, and maintain Python-based microservices for video ingestion, parsing, and analysis.
  • Build and manage containerized workloads using Docker and deploy them on Kubernetes clusters.
  • Design scalable architectures for real-time or batch video processing pipelines.
  • Integrate video analysis outputs with APIs, data stores, and downstream systems.
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks in pipelines and model inference.
  • Operationalizing services by implementing  monitoring, logging, and alerting for services.
  • Familiarity with ML model deployment on Kubernetes (Kubeflow, MLflow, BentoML).

Additional Highly Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to event-driven architectures (Kafka, NATS, Pulsar).
  • Implement computer vision pipelines using libraries such as OpenCV, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with GPU acceleration (CUDA, TensorRT, OpenVINO).
  • Knowledge of video streaming protocols (RTSP, HLS, DASH).
  • Experience building distributed video processing pipelines.
