Key Responsibilities at Datadog

As a Commercial Sales Engineer, you'll drive technical sales success through hands-on expertise:

  • Partner strategically with Account Executives to communicate Datadog's value proposition, vision, and cloud-native strategy to prospects and partners.
  • Continuously expand expertise in emerging technologies to maintain competitive knowledge and build technical credibility.
  • Deliver high-impact product and technical presentations tailored to client needs and business outcomes.
  • Maintain direct communication with product management to advocate for customer-driven feature requests and roadmap priorities.
  • Guide client success by assisting with product onboarding and resolving implementation roadblocks.
  • Innovate creatively to solve diverse technical challenges throughout the pre-sales lifecycle.
  • Conduct technical evaluations including POCs that showcase Datadog's APM, infrastructure monitoring, and log management capabilities.
  • Champion the Datadog brand by addressing customer concerns, escalating bugs, and serving as a technical ambassador.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, product, and engineering teams to close deals and drive customer adoption.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Systems administration experience with Linux and/or Windows server environments.
  • Proven presentation skills – comfortable demoing complex technical solutions to executives and engineers.
  • Creative problem-solving mindset to tackle unique challenges daily in dynamic sales cycles.
  • Travel readiness – able to travel up to 25% to client sites (able to sit 4+ hours, various transport modes).
  • Cloud-native mindset with familiarity in AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
