The Compliance Consultant, AML Compliance position at Symetra Financial offers an exciting opportunity to join the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance team.   • Analyzing large volumes of data from multiple sources to detect trends, anomalies, and financial crimes risks using technology and system tools.
  • Managing the LexisNexis Bridger platform, including screening logic optimization, alert analysis, data quality reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Partnering with stakeholders in New Business, Operations, Technology, Legal, Risk Management, Special Investigations, Investments, and Finance to provide AML/OFAC guidance.
  • Delivering subject matter expertise to first-line teams on red flags, escalation protocols, and insurance-specific risks.
  • Developing and delivering targeted AML/OFAC training, emphasizing high-net-worth and foreign national risks.
  • Participating in enterprise initiatives for financial crimes, regulatory changes, and technology enhancements.
  • Escalating risks and issues with clear analysis and recommended actions.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:

  • High school diploma required; college degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Eight or more years of experience in AML, OFAC, or financial crimes compliance, ideally in the insurance industry or regulated financial services.
  • Proven experience with life insurance AML/OFAC compliance, including high-net-worth individuals, foreign nationals, enhanced due diligence, and data analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of key regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, FinCEN guidance, OFAC rules, and state insurance fraud requirements.
