The Compliance Operations Manager role at Gilead Sciences in Shanghai, China, is a pivotal leadership position within our China compliance team. This full-time opportunity involves spearheading key compliance initiatives, supporting cutting-edge IT and AI programs, and ensuring adherence to global and local regulations. As a Compliance Operations Manager, you will drive compliance excellence in a dynamic biopharma environment, leveraging your skills in risk assessment, project management, and regulatory knowledge to safeguard Gilead's operations and reputation.
Take ownership of China-wide compliance initiatives, including the Compliance Ambassador program, Compliance Newsletter, and Compliance Week. These efforts promote a culture of integrity and awareness across the organization.
Collaborate on technology-driven programs, such as updating the Veeva Event Management system to meet local requirements and deploying a Compliance ChatBot. Your contributions will enhance efficiency and compliance through innovative AI tools.
Create standardized training boilerplates covering legal, compliance, and monitoring topics for adaptation by Legal and Compliance Business Partners. Implement new risk assessment models and conduct due diligence on vendors and internal clients per global guidelines.
Collect bi-annual data on medical books allocated to healthcare professionals (HCPs). Assist with corporate governance tasks like seal administration, filings, and serve as the internal point of contact for legal matters on events and budgets.
Handle other assignments from your line manager, ensuring flexibility and proactive support in a fast-paced environment.
To succeed in this role, candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in law, accounting, or finance. A minimum of 8 years of professional experience is required, with substantial compliance background in China's pharmaceutical or similar industries.
Essential knowledge includes the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) or equivalent local laws, and industry codes for HCP interactions. Proven experience in executing compliance projects and risk assessments is critical, demanding critical thinking, practical problem-solving, and business risk awareness.
Strong judgment, strategic influencing, and leadership skills are vital for collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including local and global teams. Fluency in Mandarin and English (speaking and reading) is mandatory, with multicultural experience and additional languages as advantages.
Gilead Sciences offers a premium compensation package, including a competitive salary estimated between $90,000 and $150,000 USD annually (adjusted for China market rates with buffer).
