Position Summary

The Compressor Mechanic I/II/III position at our Wamsutter, Wyoming location offers an exciting opportunity for skilled mechanical professionals in the oil and gas industry. Depending on your experience, you'll operate at Level I, II, or III, handling everything from basic assembly and reactive maintenance (Level I) to expert diagnosis, repair of complex systems, leading troubleshooting, predictive maintenance, and process improvements (Level III). This role ensures equipment reliability across multiple sites, with strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols.

Based in Wamsutter, WY—a hub for energy operations—you'll work in a dynamic field environment, troubleshooting engines, pumps, and compressors with minimal supervision at higher levels. This full-time, mid-level role demands physical stamina, technical expertise, and a safety-first mindset. Key Responsibilities

Core Mechanical Duties

  • Independently assemble and disassemble complex mechanical systems, progressing from reactive maintenance and minor repairs at entry levels to expert handling at Level III.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests to identify common and advanced functionality issues in engines, pumps, and compressors.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and repair equipment with moderate to minimal supervision, leading efforts across sites at senior levels.

Maintenance and Compliance

  • Perform predictive and reactive maintenance, documenting thoroughly and identifying failure patterns to enhance reliability.
  • Maintain detailed logs, report spills or leaks immediately, and stay informed on site equipment, locations, and permitting requirements.
  • Follow all company policies, HSE protocols, including emergency response, safe work practices, and proper PPE usage.

Collaboration and Leadership

  • Collaborate with teams to solve technical and operational problems, contributing to process improvements.
  • Occasionally lead small projects or teams at Level III, driving efficiency and innovation.
  • Adapt to shift work: after-hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekends, holidays, overtime (10-12 hour shifts), and travel with overnight stays.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required, plus a minimum of three (3) years demonstrated ability as a lease operator, operations technician, or similar role.
  • Preferred: Associates degree or two-year technical degree, plus at least two (2) years multifaceted lease operations technician experience in oil and gas.

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as the utmost priority.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general PC skills for logging and reporting.
  • Physical capability: Work in extreme temperatures, loud noises, enclosed spaces; lift/carry 50 lbs individually or team lift heavier; stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, squat for long periods; work at heights using man lifts, ladders, scaffolding with PPE; use hand tools.
