Role Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer I - SRE at Confluent, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and stability of Confluent Cloud, our multi-cloud streaming platform. You will be responsible for proactively identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact our customers. This role combines hands-on technical work with strategic program ownership, allowing you to make a significant impact on the overall reliability of our platform.

You will spend approximately 75% of your time on engineering tasks, such as building automation, improving tooling, analyzing systemic failure patterns, and designing reliability improvements. The remaining 25% will be dedicated to teaching and coordination, including coaching teams through post-mortems, training incident commanders, and evolving our incident response practices.
