Day in the Life of a 3rd Assistant Engineer

Imagine starting your day with a comprehensive check of the engine control room, monitoring the performance of critical machinery. You'll then conduct rounds, inspecting pumps, generators, and other equipment to ensure they're operating efficiently. A significant portion of your day will be dedicated to preventative maintenance, which might include servicing air compressors, overhauling a pump, or testing insulation resistance on electrical equipment. You will be working with the main engine lube oil systems/stern tube lube oil systems routinely.
