This includes cleaning decks and ladder ways, replenishing materials and rag bins, emptying trash, and organizing tools and stores. You will also assist with painting and maintenance tasks under the direction of the First Assistant Engineer. Safety is paramount, and you will be expected to familiarize yourself with engine room spaces to avoid hazards and take necessary actions in emergencies.
In the Deck Department, you will perform sanitation duties in the house, passage spaces, common areas, and heads. You will also assist with mooring lines during docking and undocking procedures, as well as securing the deck for sea. Cargo operations are another key responsibility, and you will assist the deck department in the maintenance and upkeep of assigned areas and equipment. When required by the Master, you will perform lookout duties during port arrivals and departures.
