Position Summary

The Construction Manager II/Welding Inspector role at Williams in Rock Springs, Wyoming, is a pivotal position within our construction management and inspection teams. This onsite role focuses on the planning, coordination, and execution of natural gas pipeline projects, with safety as the highest priority. Primarily based in our Williams Rock Springs fabrication shop, you will perform critical welding inspections and quality assurance tasks, with occasional field travel for project support. Key Responsibilities

As a Construction Manager II/Welding Inspector, your day-to-day impact will include:

  • Conducting welding inspections as a Williams-qualified inspector to ensure full compliance with industry standards such as API 1104, ASME IX, B31.3, B31.4, and B31.8.
  • Supporting fabrication and welding quality assurance processes at the Rock Springs, Wyoming fabrication shop.
  • Coordinating with project teams to verify construction quality, adherence to safety protocols, and overall project execution.
  • Traveling to field project sites for extended durations as needed to complete inspections and oversight.
  • Assisting in front-end construction planning, estimate development, analysis, and contract management.
  • Leading onsite inspection teams and contributing to construction closeout activities.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support operational excellence.

This role demands physical presence in demanding environments, including extreme temperatures, elevated heights, and heavy lifting, making it ideal for those with field experience in energy construction.

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet these essential criteria:

  • Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED required; minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in visual inspection of welded joints and related tasks. Preferred: AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong familiarity with API 1104, ASME IX, ASME B31.3, B31.4, and B31.8 standards. Solid understanding of destructive/nondestructive test methods, weld defect identification, welding processes, procedures, equipment, design drawings, pipe specifications, filler metals, and pipeline construction standards.
  • Physical & Certification Requirements: Ability to work in extreme conditions, lift 50+ lbs, climb, and use hand tools. Must pass company visual acuity exam (with/without lenses), hold or obtain Williams welding inspector certification, and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as the utmost priority. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC applications.
