PepsiCo is seeking a skilled Controls Specialist for its Cambridge, Ontario manufacturing plant. This full-time position supports the weekday night shift (4 days, 10pm-8am), offering a competitive salary range of $56,700 - $92,400 CAD per year. As a key member of the dynamic reliability team, you'll maintain controls and automation systems across processing, packaging, and warehousing operations. You'll develop controls competence, programs, and procedures while collaborating with reliability, capital projects, and operations teams. This role is perfect for an ambitious technical specialist ready to optimize efficiency and reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
In this critical role, you'll support the reliability team by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex equipment issues. You'll coach and develop electricians on controls-related troubleshooting, fostering sustainable practices to accelerate problem-solving. Propose and execute projects that enhance equipment reliability, analyze production processes to identify improvement opportunities, and craft control strategies for better efficiency, quality, and safety. Partner with the Project Engineering team for seamless integration support, ensure timely completion of controls work orders, and drive downtime performance through cross-team collaboration. Your efforts will directly impact operational success at PepsiCo's Cambridge facility.
Expect hands-on involvement in maintaining industrial control systems, interpreting technical drawings like P&IDs and electrical schematics, and ensuring network infrastructure supports IT/OT operations.
Candidates should hold a University Degree or College Diploma in Electrical, Software, Process Engineering, or a related field. Essential skills include working knowledge of industrial control systems, process automation, instrumentation, and maintenance. Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLCs, Siemens S7, Aveva Wonderware, and Allen Bradley FactoryTalk View HMI software is required, alongside expertise in motor controls, VFDs, Industrial Ethernet networks, and server infrastructure. 1-3+ years of supervisory experience is preferred, with strong analytical problem-solving, self-motivation, adaptability, and exceptional communication skills. Knowledge of safety and regulatory processes is a must.
