The Coordinator, Prior Authorization position at Cardinal Health in Doral, Florida, is a hybrid onsite opportunity within our US Med division. This entry-level role supports the Contracts and Billing team by managing prior authorization requests for healthcare services and products. You'll work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST, spending two days per week in the office. As a Coordinator, Prior Authorization, you'll handle critical tasks to ensure smooth billing and patient access to services. Responsibilities include reviewing incoming authorization requests to verify patient eligibility and benefits, initiating requests through phone, fax, or online portals, and tracking statuses diligently. You'll communicate approval or denial outcomes clearly to healthcare providers and patients while maintaining precise records in company systems. Collaboration with billing and clinical teams is essential, alongside strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for safeguarding protected health information (PHI). Additional duties involve adapting to process changes, attending meetings, routing calls, and meeting quality standards to support Cardinal Health's high-performance culture.
This role is accessible to motivated candidates with a High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of insurance, billing, and claims processing, along with basic familiarity with insurance portals and medical terminology. Proficiency in basic math, business calculations, computer data entry, and MS Office is highly valued. At this level, you'll apply job skills and company policies to routine tasks, resolve basic problems, and seek guidance on new assignments.
