Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in filling and dispensing prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
- Verify prescription information and patient data.
- Prepare medications for dispensing, including counting, measuring, and labeling.
- Retrieve prescriptions for customers at the counter.
- Ring up customers and process payments.
- Answer phone calls and address customer inquiries.
- Order and stock drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter merchandise.
- Maintain inventory levels and track expiration dates.
- Update patient records in the computer system.
- Process invoices and make accounting entries.
- Provide immunizations under the direction of a pharmacist, following state law guidelines.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of medications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Comply with all pharmacy regulations and policies.
- Assist with insurance verification and billing procedures.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues.
- Assist with training new pharmacy technicians.
- Participate in continuing education programs.
- Monitor temperature and humidity levels in the pharmacy.
- Assist with medication recalls.
- Prepare sterile compounds (if certified and trained).
- Manage controlled substances according to regulations.
- Perform quality control checks on medications and equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions after immunization.
- Properly dispose of sharps and biohazardous waste.
- Educate patients on vaccine information and potential side effects.
