Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in filling and dispensing prescriptions
- Retrieve and count medications accurately
- Label prescriptions properly and according to regulations
- Maintain accurate patient records and profiles
- Process prescription orders and insurance claims
- Answer phone calls and assist customers with inquiries
- Provide excellent customer service at the pharmacy counter
- Operate cash registers and handle payments
- Manage inventory and stock medications and supplies
- Order medications and supplies as needed
- Check expiration dates and remove expired medications
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Prepare sterile compounds under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Administer immunizations according to state law and protocol
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions after immunization
- Document immunization records accurately
- Educate patients on medication use and potential side effects
- Provide information on over-the-counter medications
- Assist with quality assurance activities
- Adhere to all pharmacy laws, regulations, and company policies
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
- Assist with training new pharmacy technicians
