Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in filling and dispensing prescriptions
- Provide immunizations under the direction of a pharmacist
- Assist customers at the pharmacy counter
- Retrieve prescriptions for customers
- Ring up customers and process payments
- Order and stock drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter merchandise
- Update patient records and inventory in a computerized system
- Process invoices and make accounting entries
- Answer phone calls and address customer inquiries
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws
- Verify patient information and insurance coverage
- Prepare medications for dispensing
- Label prescriptions accurately
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
- Assist with medication reconciliation
- Provide patient education on medications
- Resolve customer complaints and issues
- Assist with third-party audits
- Participate in quality assurance programs
- Assist with training new pharmacy technicians
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures
- Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment
